Industrial Chic: Kasey & Nick

Kasey and Nick’s wedding resembled who they are as a couple: full of fun, love and laughter.  I know Kasey, and it was awesome that we got to be a part of her wedding day.  Living out of town, she kept in touch and trusted us every step of the way, knowing we were going to help make her wedding dreams come true.  Kasey created her own decorations and did the calligraphy, which made each detail so special. Kasey and Nick live in Nashville now, but they came back home to tie the knot in their hometown at Haven.  Kasey embraced the venue’s industrial vibe and went with a modern, industrial chic wedding theme.  It was a stunning day and we loved being a part of the best day of their lives!

How did you meet?

Nick and I dated in high school after being introduced by mutual friends.  We decided to go our separate ways when college came, but slowly found ways to be in the same place at the same time throughout college.  We have a close mutual friend group that we spent a lot of time with after college, so we were always together, and thought maybe they didn’t notice us pretending not to like each other (that didn’t work!).  We decided to make it official in December of 2016 and Nick proposed in June of 2017.

How did he propose?

Somehow Nick kept the proposal a complete secret that I didn’t see coming, which resulted in big happy tears and me only managing to be able to nod my head yes when he got down on one knee.  Nick told me we were headed to dinner with his parents and I should probably wear makeup because his mom wants pictures- which makes me laugh now at why that did not make me think twice about the lie.  He took a detour on the way to dinner to “pick up work plans” from our friend’s house who happened to have the most amazing views from their porch, which is where he proposed.  He had all of our family and closest friends waiting at the house for an engagement party immediately after.  So much fun!

What advice would you give brides and grooms that are planning a wedding?

Do your research on vendors, recommendations are your best friend and it’s worth the money to spend more for the vendor who you feel completely comfortable with.  Also, communication is key.  We lived out of state while planning a wedding in Birmingham, so having vendors that were always in touch is what kept my mind at ease.

What was your favorite part of the wedding day?

We truly just had fun the entire day, I remember seeing everyone smiling all day and that meant so much to me.  Prior to the wedding I gave both our photographer and DJ a head’s up on how large our wedding party was but how much fun they all were, too. Both vendors encouraged the fun and kept the party going all night.

Kasey and Nick, thanks for letting us be a part of your wedding day.  Y’all were so much fun to work with and we wish y’all a lifetime of happiness together!

Timeless Summer Garden Wedding: Carmen & Seth

When we think about Carmen and Seth’s wedding, we think of the stunning reception that took our breath away.  Talk about wedding reception goals!  There were so many pretty details that went into planning.  Imagine soft draping, sparkling cafe lighting, impressive floral chandeliers, a soft color palette and lush greenery.  A rain plan was called the day before, but they were able to have a gorgeous outdoor ceremony.  Then, the sky fell out with an unexpected monsoon during the covered, outdoor reception. They were so happy to be married and all that mattered was that they were together.   They didn’t let the rain ruin the reception, instead they embraced it and danced the night away with family and friends. If it’s true what they say about rain being good luck on your wedding day, that means Carmen and Seth will have a lifetime of luck!

How did you meet?

Timing is everything!  We met through mutual friends in college but a few years later we would run into each other in Tuscaloosa at every football game and tailgate cheering on the Tide!  We were friends for a long time before I finally gave in and agreed to go on a date with him. That night he took me to the house he was renovating and said he could see himself marrying me and living there.  I thought he was insane, but I kissed him anyway!  I went from not even wanting to go on a date, to being smitten, and now that house is our beautiful home together.

How did he propose?

Seth told me we were going to Colorado for Spring Break to visit friends and take me skiing for the first time.  Two days before the flight I sprained my ankle.  I was on crutches and Seth pushed me in a wheelchair through the airport.  Little did I know, Seth had bigger plans for the trip and was frantically trying to figure out how he was going to propose to me on crutches.  I didn’t get to ski or snowboard.  After two days, lots of ice packs and a lot of help from Seth, I hobbled without crutches to a beautiful lookout point overlooking the frozen Lake Dillion.  As we walked to the overlook, snow began falling and when I least expected it, he was on one knee!  On March 12, 2017 we agreed on forever at Sapphire Point overlooking Lake Dillion in Breckenridge, Colorado.

What advice would you give brides and grooms that are planning a wedding?

Hire a wedding planner before you do anything else!  My planner Becky (Becky’s Brides) was incredible.  I would have been a complete mess without her.  Also, just enjoy the whole process. It’s easy to get lost in the stress during planning and even on the day of.  You know, so what if a monsoon comes and soaks your wedding updo and your guests and the power goes out…keep on laughing and dancing the night away with your soul mate!

Carmen and Seth, thank you for letting us be a part of your wedding day.  We enjoyed being a part of your gorgeous day and wish you a lifetime of love and happiness!

Jewel Tone Winter Wedding: Mary Elizabeth & Tyler

Mary Elizabeth and Tyler tied the knot on a beautiful December day.  This was our last wedding of the year and it was the best way to end 2017!  A trio of crystal chandeliers twinkled as Mary Elizabeth walked down the aisle to marry Tyler.  The stunning copper alter was adorned with cascading flowers and greenery. The warm jewel tones were a dreamy color palette perfect for a winter wedding.  Then the first look where they read their vows to one another was so special.  This is what wedding dreams are made of!  Prepare yourself for a dreamy winter wedding sneak peek into Mary Elizabeth and Tyler’s day.
