Kasey and Nick’s wedding resembled who they are as a couple: full of fun, love and laughter. I know Kasey, and it was awesome that we got to be a part of her wedding day. Living out of town, she kept in touch and trusted us every step of the way, knowing we were going to help make her wedding dreams come true. Kasey created her own decorations and did the calligraphy, which made each detail so special. Kasey and Nick live in Nashville now, but they came back home to tie the knot in their hometown at Haven. Kasey embraced the venue’s industrial vibe and went with a modern, industrial chic wedding theme. It was a stunning day and we loved being a part of the best day of their lives!
How did you meet?
Nick and I dated in high school after being introduced by mutual friends. We decided to go our separate ways when college came, but slowly found ways to be in the same place at the same time throughout college. We have a close mutual friend group that we spent a lot of time with after college, so we were always together, and thought maybe they didn’t notice us pretending not to like each other (that didn’t work!). We decided to make it official in December of 2016 and Nick proposed in June of 2017.
How did he propose?
Somehow Nick kept the proposal a complete secret that I didn’t see coming, which resulted in big happy tears and me only managing to be able to nod my head yes when he got down on one knee. Nick told me we were headed to dinner with his parents and I should probably wear makeup because his mom wants pictures- which makes me laugh now at why that did not make me think twice about the lie. He took a detour on the way to dinner to “pick up work plans” from our friend’s house who happened to have the most amazing views from their porch, which is where he proposed. He had all of our family and closest friends waiting at the house for an engagement party immediately after. So much fun!
What advice would you give brides and grooms that are planning a wedding?
Do your research on vendors, recommendations are your best friend and it’s worth the money to spend more for the vendor who you feel completely comfortable with. Also, communication is key. We lived out of state while planning a wedding in Birmingham, so having vendors that were always in touch is what kept my mind at ease.
What was your favorite part of the wedding day?
We truly just had fun the entire day, I remember seeing everyone smiling all day and that meant so much to me. Prior to the wedding I gave both our photographer and DJ a head’s up on how large our wedding party was but how much fun they all were, too. Both vendors encouraged the fun and kept the party going all night.
Kasey and Nick, thanks for letting us be a part of your wedding day. Y’all were so much fun to work with and we wish y’all a lifetime of happiness together!
